Learn more about the Labrador Retriever.
I have been adopted! Cooper found himself at the pound when he was picked up as a stray with another dog. No owners were found, and his time there was running out, so we rescued him. Cooper is a very friendly, playful young dog who loves everyone he meets. He often rolls over on his back and waits patiently for a belly rub. When he's outside, Cooper loves to sniff the ground and is always up for a game of fetch. He has gotten along well with the dogs he has met and likes to play with them. He has met some cats and didn't show much interest in them. While Cooper is active and excitable outdoors, he is quite mellow and well-behaved in the house. Cooper is crate-trained and house-trained. Cooper is participating in our Rush to Rescue program, so he is currently being fostered by a pair of offenders at the Rush City Correctional Facility. While there, he will be attending a training program with a certified trainer and will be working on his commands with his handlers. From Cooper's handlers: Cooper is a very friendly (dog/people) person that loves the warmth of a companion. Cooper is very active, but can be relaxed in the comfort of his home/living space. He likes his belly rubbed and is a quick learner when it comes to his commands. He is a fun and exciting friend to have around to brighten every day around you! He's not aggressive in any way and can get attached to his handler, but overall, he is lovable, wanting affection and full of tricks to play with him (outside/inside).
