Learn more about the Doberman Pinscher.
Willie was picked up as a stray and never claimed by his owners, so he is now looking for his new home. Willie can be a little apprehensive at first, but once he gets comfortable, he is outgoing, playful and affectionate. When Willie isn't sure about a situation, like getting his picture taken, he shuts down (stops listening, avoids eye contact). Once he is comfortable again, he is back to his normal, wagging, smiley self. Willie knows how to sit, but isn't sure about the other commands. He also needs to work on his leash walking skills. Willie takes treats gently and doesn't mind having his face, feet, tail, belly and ears touched or handled. Willie gets along well with other dogs. He initiates play with everyone and handles dogs with pushy behavior well. Willie is very fixated on cats and would probably chase them if given the chance, so he should probably go to a catless home. Willie is crate-trained and housetrained. Willie is participating in our Rush to Rescue program, so he is being fostered by a pair of offenders at the Rush City Correctional Facility. While there, he will be attending a training program with a certified trainer and will work on his commands with his handlers.
