American Staffordshire Terrier : : Female (spayed) : : Medium
Sweet Kylie was found abandoned in a basement, and it was obvious that she had delivered quite a few litters of puppies. The family that found her had planned on keeping her, but she became ill and was surrendered to a local impound. The wonderful people at Minnesota Spay and Neuter Assistance Program performed life-saving emergency surgery on Kylie because she had pyometra, which is an infected uterus. After she recuperated from her ordeal we were able to rescue her from the pound and bring her into our program. Kylie is rather petite, weighing in at 40 pounds. She absolutely loves to curl up on the couch or in her dog bed to catch some ZZZs. She thrives on human attention and loves to give kisses. Kylie is very well-behaved in the house. She likes to nest before laying down, so she would prefer to have some blankets to rearrange into the perfect position. Kylie is house-trained and crate-trained. She gets along well with other dogs, but does want to establish herself as the alpha dog. We haven't been able to figure out yet how she would do with cats. She was extremely interested in the ones she saw at the vet's office, and we're not sure what her intentions were, although she didn't bark or growl at them. The people that turned her in stated that she was good with children and she has met children and has done very well - all wiggles. Kylie is now participating in our Rush to Rescue program, so she is being fostered by a pair of offenders at the Rush City Correctional Facility. While there, she will be attending a training program with a certified trainer and will be working on her commands with her handlers.
