Anna was surrendered by her family because she was a young dog who had some typical puppy behaviors that their landlord didn't appreciate. Anna is super sweet, but can be a little nervous about things that are new to her. She is somewhat shy around people she doesn't know, but it doesn't take them long to gain her trust. Anna gets along well with other dogs and loves to play with them. She has made a special dog friend at the prison, and the two of them are inseparable while out in the play yard. Anna is house-trained and crate-trained, and has grown up around children. When we first got Anna, she did not know many commands and was working on developing her confidence.

Anna is participating in our Rush to Rescue program, so she is currently being fostered by a pair of offenders at the Rush City Correctional Facility. While there, she will be attending a training program with a certified trainer and will be working on her commands with her handlers. 

From Anna's handlers: Anna is a 9 month old labrador retriever mix. She is crate-trained and is very quiet when she is in there. She also sleeps throughout the night. Anna loves to play fetch with balls and she has learned to bring it back to you. She no longer digs and almost all her toys are her favorite.  Anna is very sweet and loves people. At first she was a little nervous, but has opened up a lot to people. Anna has not chewed up anything that does not belong to her and she is very well potty trained. She will let you know when she is ready by either crying or sniffing around. She still has a little attachment problem, but we are working on it. Anna gets along with every dog she meets. She loves to play and have fun without getting tired. She is not food, treat or toy aggressive and she loves to have her belly rubbed.
