I am in my new home! Gypsy was found hanging around a rest stop up north, so a nice woman helped her out by taking her to her house. After attempts to locate any owner failed, Gypsy was brought to an outdoor shelter. We happened to be at the shelter picking up another dog when she arrived, so we ended up leaving there with two dogs. Gypsy is participating in our Rush to Rescue program, so she is currently being fostered by a pair of offenders at the Rush City Correctional Facility. While there, she will be attending a training program with a certified trainer and will be working on her commands with her handlers. Update from one of Gypsy's handlers: Gypsy is a shepherd mix. She is not a large dog, we call her a pocket shepherd. She is right around 40 pounds and we do not think she will get much bigger. Many staff have called her the perfect size.
