Spartis was picked up as a stray, and although he was microchipped, the contact info was not good. Spartis waited at the pound for three weeks and his time there was running out, so we pulled him and got him all ready for his new home.
Spartis is twenty-six pounds of pure sweetness who loves the attention of people. He's just a little guy with a big personality. Spartis likes to entertain himself with squeaky toys and tennis balls, but also enjoys the interaction of others. When he's not playing, he likes to curl up on the couch and get in a cat nap. Spartis, being the beagle that he is, can be very interested in all there is to sniff. He absolutely loves to be with other dogs, so it would be nice if he had a playmate that came with his new home. He likes other dogs so much that he will watch TV if he sees one on it. Spartis seems to be a little afraid of cats, and will just avoid them if he can. We haven't had a chance to see how he is around small children yet. Spartis is crate-trained and house-trained. Spartis knows "sit" and "down" and usually comes when he is called.
Spartis has a history of seizures and recently started medication to help control them.
Spartis is participating in our Rush to Rescue program, so he is being fostered by a pair of offenders at the Rush City Correctional Facility. While there, he will be attending a training program with a certified trainer and will be working on his commands with his handlers.
