Piper was picked up as a stray and found herself in a local pound. She is a very friendly, well-mannered dog who loves to be around people. Piper has a lot of energy when she is outside playing, but settles down nicely while inside and is very content to be curled up napping on the couch. She likes to play fetch and is learning to play with other toys. Piper is house-trained and crate-trained, although she would much rather be loose with her people than in a crate. Piper gets along well with other dogs and is eager to find a fellow playmate. She has been exposed to cats, but is very curious about them and wanted to chase them.

Piper is participating in our Rush to Rescue program, so she is being fostered by a pair of offenders at the Rush City Correctional Facility. While there, she is attending a training program with a certified trainer and has been working on her commands with her handlers.

Are you looking for that perfect play companion who loves to cuddle and relax as well? Look no further--my name is Piper. I love to play, especially outside, where my inner puppy shines. Whether it's chasing a ball or tracking a scent like the hound I am, I LOVE having a job to do. When done, we can cuddle up on a couch or bed, where I'm just happy to be next to my people.

I'm an extremely well-mannered dog in the house and learn new commands fast. You'll get a laugh out of me and some of my funny antics like sleeping on my back and my almost human expressions. I love all of my friends here and am enjoying learning lots ofnew things--but can't wait for my forever home. So quit hounding around and come meet me!
