I have been adopted and loving my new forever home!

No matter how hard you try, you will not find a sweeter dog than Dexter. If he's not leaning into you, he's either on his hind legs trying to get close to you or he is in your lap. He is just a very gentle, loving dog that loves to be around people. Dexter also loves to walk around with a tennis ball in his mouth. When he's not doing that, he likes to fetch them, catch them, and dig them out of the snow. Dexter did well with an older dog in his foster home, but hasn't had much opportunity yet to be around other dogs. He totally ignores cats. Dexter is house-trained and crate-trained, although he developed "happy tail" at the shelter so the interior of his crate has to be padded to prevent a recurrence. Dexter also does well in a kennel, although he would much rather be where the people are. He can be a little anxious when he is left alone, and will sometimes whine. He is also somewhat nervous at first in new situations, although it doesn't take him long to become comfortable.

Dexter is participating in our Rush to Rescue program, so he is being fostered by a pair of offenders at the Rush City Correctional Facility. While there, he will be attending a training program with a certified trainer and will work on his commands with his handlers.
